About you

You are a passionate Senior Backend Developer with experience developing microservices, APIs, and web-based server-side applications with .NET and Umbraco.

You will be part of a team of software developers who work daily with clients, projects, and challenges of all kinds. Therefore, you are nice and collaborative and enjoy a good laugh at work.

We build on the MACH architecture, Which means:

• Microservices: Our APIs consist of micro-service runtimes that “talk” to each other, and our integration layer is built on Azure Functions.
• API-first: All our solutions are API-driven, where the front end can deliver the best possible user experience on top of the underlying APIs.
• Cloud Native: We use Azure to access the latest cloud services, such as message queues, API gateways, and Function Apps.
• Headless: Underlying CMSs are used in a headless format, and the CMS does not dictate presentation.

Your day-to-day at Novicell

• Developing performance-critical and scalable microservices and APIs with state-of-the-art technologies like .NET, C#, and Cloud Services.
• New and further development of .NET and Umbraco sites in conjunction with other composable solutions.
• Take part in architecture decisions and document the results.
• Design and implement the interface between the client and server-side applications. This includes specifying and implementing REST APIs and working with real-time data and WebSockets.
• Integration between websites and various XML / JSON-based web services.

You are our Senior Backend Developer if...

• You have experience working in agencies or consultancies.
• Proficient English level. You will work for the UK team from Spain.
• The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously is essential
• You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as good mentoring skills
• You are aspirational. You have a passion for delivering outstanding solutions.
• You love the internet and its technologies, new and old.
• You have at least five years of experience with .NET development in C#, SQL, and Git, preferably from an agency or consultancy firm.
• You have experience with modern CMSs such as Umbraco, Contentful, Storyblok, Sanity, Strapi or similar.
• Previous experience as a senior developer within a project team.
• You are familiar with basic software patterns and principles, such as SOLID, Domain-Driven Development, Dependency Injection, and CQRS.
• You have practical experience with SQL Server databases and the SQL query language.
• You are familiar with Microservice-based architectures and the principles of message queues.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with modern front-end technology like vue.js is a big plus.
• Knowledge about containerisation (Docker) and Infrastructure as code (Terraform) is a plus.

• Work from home or come to the office (we’d love that). That’s up to you! - Living in Barcelona is a plus, mostly because of social events, but it’s not mandatory. We have colleagues in Valencia, Sevilla, Málaga and Tenerife. So, as long as you are based in Spain and have a working permit, that’s fine for us.
